Four Dead In Industrial Accident
SUPERIOR, Wisconsin

Four people were killed Thursday night following an industrial accident in
the Village of Superior, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's
Department.
Officials said the victims were working in a manhole near Kimmes
Construction on Albany Avenue when they were overcome by toxic fumes.
The bodies were recovered by 22:00 Thursday.

It was not immediately known what the workers were doing in the 20-foot-deep
well when rescuers were called, Fire Chief Tad Matheson said.
Firefighters with breathing equipment led the recovery effort, and workers
pumped water out to help.
Battalion Fire Chief Richard Rugg said all four bodies had been recovered.
