Anniversary of Deadliest Fire
6:59 PM May 23, 2007
Next weeks marks the 30th anniversary of one of the nation's deadliest
fires.
In 1977 165 people lost their lives at the Beverly Hills Supper Club in
Southgate, Ky. Another 200 people were injured.
In all, 33 fire departments responded to the blaze.
To this day the lot remains vacant, but survivors are pushing for a memorial
to remember the victims.
The fire was blamed on faulty aluminum electrical wiring.
After the fire, the state adopted new reforms and construction codes for
buildings.
