Our charitable org is lanuching a program that we hope will be an effective
fund raiser. We are seeking those with term life insurance policies they no
longer need or have out grown. Usually, policyholders simply allow these
policies to lapse when their children grow up or they themselves reach a
certain age.
Instead of allowing the policy to lapse, we are asking owners to donate
these policies to our organization!!! We may be able to negotiate a cash
settlement with the insurance carrier!! If successful, we will send the
policyholder half of the proceeds along with an IRS Form 8283 and tax
deductible contribution certificate. This will give the donor a charitable
tax deduction for the half or the proceeds that we keep.
