Up here on the CBC (specifically Newsworld) they broadcast the above
again. It's about Marc Emery, a native-born Canadian Citizen, who sold
seeds into the US. *Big* mistake apparently. They treat one seed the
same as one plant with sentencing. 100 plants gets you 5 years,
1,000,000 seeds gets you *several* live sentences. Now him being a
native Canadian, I was under the impression that he *couldn't* be
deported, but apparently, because he broke US law *in* the US (even
though he wasn't actually *in* the US at the time), that's not true. So
the US got him and sent him to Jail. Very imformative documentary. It
doesn't go beyond his actual deportation.

Will they put God on trial? He's created billions of marijuana seeds and
plants.
It's ridiculous to make laws against something that's 100%% natural.

Fanghorn,
Marc has NOT been extradited and sent to jail, as some websites have
mistakenly wrote. He IS \wanted/ and the US will do just about anything to
bring him here, but the Canadian government has set a new extradition
hearing for Feb 09. As of right now, Marc is running for Mayor of
Vancouver, BC... :)
You are correct in how and why the US wants him jailed, along with 2 of his
friends / co-workers (Michelle Rainey & Greg Williams) known as the BC3.
However, BC has an anti-extradition policy in regards to political reasons.
The US wants him jailed because he is a Marijuana activist, and as we all
know (thanks to GWB), it's against the law to be any kind of political
activist unless you are mirroring US policy. See, the DEA's reasons are all
political based. Here is the statement from the DEA's administrator, Karen
P. Tandy (below). It reads like a political manifesto.

Major North American Marijuana Trafficker Self-Proclaimed "Prince of Pot"
aka Marc Scott Emery Arrested Today

on't top-post, sense making replies of complicated becomes. In line,
that is posting your replies immediately after the part you're talking
about is the best method.
Hardly the same as a polical party, of which the US only allows two.
Sorry, but it's not political, it's simply about legalization - which
*can* be one part of a political platform. No more than that.

And the United States has absolutely no business trying to
extradite Mark Emery in the first place! Like you said, that's a
customs and US buyer problem. This is typical of the damn mindset in
this administration that everything is someone else's problem. I love
my country, but goddammit I hate these fucking idiots that are in
control of things. "We, the people" are up to our collective eyeballs
in this bullshit. Talk about needing "regime change"! These fuckwits
aren't going to be satisfied until they start world war 3, if they
haven't laid the groundwork already.

I couldn't agree more. We need to change the way people look at our
politicians. For instance, they are constantly being called "Leaders".
They are not leaders, but in fact, Representatives of the People. When we
talk about GWB for instance, he should be referred to as our National
Representative -- not our leader.
We do need more activism in this country; and along with such, we need to
ensure that activism isn't a crime. I know a NORML activist who lives a few
blocks from me, and although he doesn't partake, his house has been raided 3
times. After the first time, he installed cameras throughout his house and
a recording system that dumps the feed to a server outside of his house.
Therefore, the next 2 times it was all on film. He wanted to make sure that
it was all captured for his defense. He is affectively being harassed
because he is a political activist for the legalization or decriminalization
of our natural herb.

Howdy,

I'm not justifying or condoning this kind of behavior from our government,
but I'm only going to try and explain it.... The U.S. has ALWAYS had a
history of going and getting the 'bad guy' (their definition) and bringing
them back to the US for trial. That is what Operation Just Cause was all
about in the Republic of Panama in the late 1980's. We wanted Noriega for
drug crimes, so we invaded the country of Panama and got him. That's what
we are doing with Usama Bin Laden right now! I don't believe we are going
to invade the country of Canada, but it's not completely out of the question
for the United States to contemplate such a horrendous thing.
