Precognition/ Deja Vu

I have some questions about what I used to think was Deja Vu but is
called precognition.

"For many years, psychologists have known of the phenomenon of Deja Vu,
where a patient is absolutely convinced that a first visit to an area
seemed like a place already familiar and known. (Deja vu is different
from various similar phenomena such as Precognition [where a person has
a premonition of some future event] or Clarivoyance [where a person
comes to know about some simultaneous event a long distance away] or
assorted other unusual phenomena."

Do you believe in Precognition/Deja Vu?

I think I have had at least 3 instances of Precognition. One for sure.
I had a dream that me and my friend Don would be walking in a forest
with some American Indians. This was odd because I lived in Chicago.
About two years later I went on a white water rafting trip in upper
Wisconsin (with a ton of people) where at the end just Don and I were
walking with some American Indians through the forest. The experience
was very weird.

Déjà vu is a recognized neurophysiological phenomenon. It is common in
children and young adults, and becomes less common as people age. During
déjà vu, you *feel* as if you have experienced your current set of
circumstances previously. This feeling can be quite profound.

There are many possible neurophysiological explanations for the
phenomenon. A few deal with the storage of your current set of
circumstances into memory *before* the brain's consciousness centers are
stimulated. This would involve a mistiming of brain circuitry.

Another explanation involves the sensation of recognition; probably
elicited by a small but dedicated structure in the brain. We are all
aware of the sensation we get when we "recognize" something. If this
brain function is stimulated prematurely, we feel a sense of
recognition, even if the circumstances are novel to us.
