I suppose lots of folks remember what they were doing when
things really got out of hand and the debacle that is 9-11-01
happened. I remember going home that night and sitting out in the
yard, late and in the dark, smoking a fattie and wondering wtf just
happened. Stoned, letting my mind free itself from the confines of the
news reports and conjecture, things began to register in a familiar
sequence. So odd, not an airplane visable in the sky, all commercial
avaition grounded. You would hear the occasional sound of a jet, but
those were military planes and *nobody* had their navigation lights
on. NOBODY. Scary, that first night, wondering if we were at war and
with who. Wondering what the government had decided to do to protect
us. And against who.
It was a freaky feeling, having something like that happen
and all of the confusion in the wake. As things became clearer in the
following days, the drum beat began to get retribution against the
group unknown to most of us, the shadowy "terrorists". Who were these
"terrorists" and what was their gripe?
And all the while, there was this undercurrent. This subtle
feeling that things were not quite as they seemed. While battling that
"waiting for the other shoe to fall" feeling, suddenly finding
yourself wondering if the story that is unfolding is real or if there
are major omissions and fabrications. That gut feeling that things
just are not adding up right. Wondering if the American Public just
got a group ass fucking. (Sorry, but appropriate, emphasis intended.)
The lingering questions, the wavering explanations, and the just plain
improbable "final explanations".
Ok, I am not here to preach a point of view. The people doing
so are legion. All I am here to say is look deep, look long, and do
not be afraid to have your own opinion. Yes, a tragedy occurred no
mater how you look at it; thousands of people lost their lives as a
direct result of the things that happened on that infamous morning.
Lets all honor the dead by the never ending search for the truth, no
matter where it leads.
Americans need to stop and sit down right now and smoke a
joint. Clear your minds of all that elephant talk. Consider that
things may not be as they appear. Think about what that means to you.
More importantly, what does that mean for your friends and family, and
your offspring? What kind of a world will you leave to your kids by
your apathy, letting those unanswered questions remain unanswered? I
will say it again: Honor the dead by the unending pursuit of the
truth, no matter where that leads.
