OSLO (Reuters) - The birds and the bees may be gay, according to the world's
first museum exhibition about homosexuality among animals.
With documentation of gay or lesbian behavior among giraffes, penguins,
parrots, beetles, whales and dozens of other creatures, the Oslo Natural
History Museum concludes human homosexuality cannot be viewed as
"unnatural."
"We may have opinions on a lot of things, but one thing is clear --
homosexuality is found throughout the animal kingdom, it is not against
nature," an exhibit statement said.
Geir Soeli, the project leader of the exhibition entitled "Against Nature,"
told Reuters: "Homosexuality has been observed for more than 1,500 animal
species, and is well documented for 500 of them."
The museum said the exhibition, opening on Thursday despite condemnation
from some Christians, was the first in the world on the subject. Soeli said
a Dutch zoo had once organised tours to view homosexual couples among the
animals.

He's talking about sex. Sheesh! Everyone knows that anyone can have sex
with anyone else (equipment permitting). It's justifying it as an
acceptable lifestyle is the question.

Why should one have to justify having a sexual lifestyle? I suppose
you think being celibate is more acceptable?

Very interesting post. It has been known for a long time that some
animals engage in homosexual activity at times, but I did not know that
systemic studies have been done. I fully expect the religionists to be
outraged. After all, whenever reality doesn't fit with their beliefs,
they expect reality to yield.
One of the persisting archaic notions that the Roman Catholic Church
preaches is that the purpose of sex is procreation. That is ONE reason,
but apparently not the only one. It may not even be the main one. In
many primate species, it is easy to tell when the female is ovulating,
enabling sex only at times when procreation is likely. In humans, it is
virtually impossible to tell when ovulation occurs, meaning that the
majority of sexual couplings will not result in pregnancy. Apparently,
sex has more to do with social bonding than procreation.

That in itself may be worth a trip to Oslo.

Could you chose to be aroused by a member of the same gender?
Seriously, could you override your natural reaction and find a naked,
aroused male (or female, depending on your gender) something that
causes you to have a sexual response?
Sexual orientation isn't about lifestyle or choice. It simply is. As
a rule, it makes no difference in a person's ability to function in
society.
I'm left-handed. Some that was, in many Christian nations, considered
to be a sign of evil and demonic influence. Hell the English word
"sinister" is taken from the Latin word for "on the left side."
Churches and schools punished children as young as two for showing a
tendency to be left-handed. Being a lefty was enough to deny you
access to certain jobs. Today? No one really cares.

Also like confirmed homosexual Leonardo da Vinci.Should we condemn all
heterosexuals because of a demented heterosexual, sociopath, war monger like
Bush or these charming representatives of heterosexuality:
SAN FRANCISCO, California (CNN) -- The mother accused of throwing her three
young children into the cold waters of San Francisco Bay pleaded not guilty
Friday to murder and assault charges.

We Are All A Little Gay
Sunday, August 7th, 2005 -- by Bacchus
There's a great sequence from a comedy routine by Ron White, where he
shares a bit of dialogue he supposedly had with one of his blue-collar
buddies:
"We're all a little bit gay."
"Naw man, I ain't gay!"
"Sure you are, and I can prove it to you."
"Hell no!"
"Well, do you watch porn?"
"Of course man, you know I watch porn."

There is nothing that develops from the actions of the human mind that can be
termed not natural.
Like the giraffe mentioned above got an extremely long neck we humans evolved
with extremely freak brains
- we have to live with it.
There is one basic tenet - the human brain, as with all brains, desires
pleasure
how it gains that pleasure is none of the business of other equally freak
brains.
