trust me, if there was a free opensource alternative (to SPSS etc.) her
lab would go for it. SPSS is about $500+ a year per licensed copy and it
expires after a year so you can't use it until you pay, and all your
work is in their format so you are their hostage. I'm not sure about
Sigma Plot.
