Again, I am not the intellectual you are - but I think I understood
most of that. : )

Each person directly affects the lives of others - even those they have
never met. Liken it to the commercials I see all the time . . . about
kindness being contagious . . you do a nice thing for someone and they
in return do a nicety for someone else. And so on, and so on. But of
course, that's mere kindness - it's not nearly as grand as actually
*connecting* with someone.

Like I think we have done. : )

As long as he has a modem and can talk on usenet, right?

*sigh*
I think that people like Michael will be a minority. I think that
people are too easily swayed by what is easy and offers immediate
gratification. Plus, we are animals driven by phobias, both internal
and external . . . internal, such as claustrophobia, external such as
disease, STDs, AIDS, the like, death, and getting "hurt."

As long as we fear those things - things we really can't control, we
will be driven to the existence I mentioned . . . sexless (no STDs or
AIDs), sterile (afraid of disease - I mean, look at how many
"anti-bacterial products there are on the marker. You can't get away
from them), emotionless - provides too many opportunities to get hurt.
And emotions aren't conducive to getting what YOU want NOW. They get in
the way. If you sit in front of a TV all day, ordering things online,
you've removed the human element. We do that all the time and it's more
convenient and we don't even notice the injury.

I've actually been blessed in that area . . . I'm a graphic artist and
I've never forgotten my artistic roots. I screenprint for fun, do
amateur photography (B&W - it seems more . . . honest, than color),
and blockprint. I don't paint as much as I used to, tho . . . I might
have to go back to that. But also I LOVE refinishing and restoring
antiques!! My favorite acquisition is an old farm table - it's got old
stains and gouges on it. I didn't remove those, I just laquered over
them. I liked how . . . used and loved it was, and wanted to keep it
that way. Kind of a homage to the family before mine's dinners,
conversations, etc. Just the love that surrounded it and permeated the
wood.

I have a particular weakness for love . . . mainly because I don't
really feel love, as a condition of my condition. I DO love my kids,
and I love my hubby as much as I can . . . but I know that it's not
love like others talk about. : (

I didn't used to be into cooking . . . but since moving near our best
friends, who incidentally is an "organic" cordon bleu chef, I've begun
haunting the organic aisles at our grocery store (Publix - they offer
more organic options that anyone else within a 50 mile radius). But I
sometimes forego the organic options for my favorite dishes - paella
and medianoches (Cuban sandwiches with sweeter bread than the
traditional Cubanos), Black Beans and rice, etc.

Cuban fare (which we LOVE) is not something that lends itself to
organic food, but we make concessions to organic where we can. : )

But now, with most insurance agencies, you can file a claim online - no
human needed. Our ins co is still in the "dark ages" in that respect
(no online filing) and that's probably the biggest reason we still use
them. It's *nice* to be able to talk to a live human being. And
nowadays, with most things, it's so RARE.

I usually pay the bulk of our bills online. Most companies actually
penalize you if you don't. And I am usually in too big of a hurry to
actually call and make our payments . . . so I'm guilty of the same
thing I'm accusing society. : /

If I had a nickel for every time that I've shoved my son out the door,
forcing him, almost, to ride his bike, play with other kids, or play
B-ball (we bought him a pro grade hoop for Christmas - because he
wanted one - but he doesn't use it) . . .

My girlie, OTOH is content to read, play with other kids, or do sports
. . . video games are nowhere near being the center of her life.
She's like me. : )
My son is like his dad. He loves sitting in front of the boob tube,
vegging out and watching other people live life.

Only the ones in the house . . . I have a garden but I keep it where I
can see it (small, on our balcony). Outside, not so much . . . I'm
forgetful and I've lost countless number of plants because of it. We
get such droughts here, that you HAVE to water them twice a day even in
winter. I'd rather not have them at all, than have them and kill them.
: /

I have a herb garden that I'm obsessive about, tho. Nearly every herb
you can think of. And in many cases, the ones that I use most often in
cooking, I have three of each. : )
To me, herbs are useful more so than flowers. And many herbs flower,
too.

> Poverty sucks.
> I have precious little economic leeway in my life, dear.

Well, I grew up the proverbial little rich kid . . . and I was lonely,
bored and overall miserable. My parents were essentially "career
people" and I spent quite a bit of time on my own or at school (until
HS, where I *demanded* that I be allowed to go to public school).

I never had anything in common with my peers. I didn't care for mind
games, or the "social" activities that I was supposed to obsess over.
The peers I had were little more than mindless snot factories, obsessed
with how much daddy was going to leave them when they died, what
so-and-so wore to what occasion, and who was going to be the richest
when the world ended.

I ended up spending more time with the "help" or with the "poor" kids.
They were fucking *people* - they gave a shit about other people and
the world around them. They were far more honest, kind, intelligent,
and worth the air they breathed.

Even today, it's all about "appearances" - how you dress, what you say,
who you're with . . . mindless bullshit. I'm usually on the fringes of
what's acceptable - and I usually get away with it based on my being an
artist. Being an artist gives you carte blanche to be different (you
oughta see how I dress - think urban DC, LOL) and to have codes of
conduct that others wouldn't agree with. If I weren't an artist and
"special" that way, I probably would've shot myself years ago.

And ftr, being a psychopath . . . well, that would NEVER be acceptable
in the circles I'm forced to dwell in. Alcoholism, yes. Cocaine, yep.
Depression, you betcha. Greed, of course. Hell, those are social badges
of courage. Otherwise, no.

So would I choose a world were I could be accepted for who I am, yes.
With all I've said, I like your world better. Much better. Yours has
more freedom and quality of life.

Enh, psychopaths commit suicide far more than any other "mentally ill"
group. We're susceptible to depression, taking inordinate risks,
overall self-destruction (for example, I smoke far more than I should,
LOL. Despite that, I continually pass "stress tests" far more than my
peers who DON'T smoke. Most doctors can't even tell that I've been
smoking for the past 20 years).

Female psychopaths are usually self-destructive in that they are
extremely sexually promiscuous and prone to hard drug abuse. I have at
least, avoided that bullet. : )

But in the end, it is what it is.
*shrugs*

But I appreciate your sentiment. : )
