Differences between vaporizers

I've been looking at various vaporizers and it has me confused. The prices
seem to range from about $20 to over $500. Can anyone give me some insight
into picking out one of these things? I want to get a good one but I don't
want to spend a fortune either.

My advise is don't get one at all. They will only vaporize THC and the
rest gets
trashed and burnt up as garbage. There is a LOT more to smoking it in
a joint or pipe
and there is a lot more in cannabis that gives you a good feeling
other than the
THC. Each strain gives a different high or buzz or zap or whatever
you want to
call it. But you can put any strain in a vaporizer and all you get to
get high on is THC.
Sure it is an instant blast to the brain and if that's all you want
the get a cheapo
vaporizer for that $20 and compare it with smoking a joint and see
what I'm talking
about. When they first came out I bought the first one on the market
$150 - used
it 6 or 7 times and put it away and that's where it's stayed for the
past 6 years.
That's my advise on it for you.

My vaporizer friend said get a Volcano it's the best of the bunch. We
call
all of them Hassleizers because we find them to be a hassle to use
them.

I have several vaporizers and I've been using them for many years.
The main advantage compared to smoking is that it conserves your weed
and keeps your lungs free from tar and other crap that is released
upon combustion. The argument for a vaporizer is quite simple. If you
smell a bong after a couple of sessions it really stinks and smoke in
general smells kind of foul (even though I still love to smoke an
occasional spliff) compared to the clean smell of vaporized bud. If
you don't clean a vaporizer for many months of heavy usage, it will
still smell relatively nice.

I made two different volcano clones. The first cost ~$90 US. the other
was ~$130.

Both versions used a makita 1100 ($75 at tool depot).

The expensive one used the cartridge from a volcano (~$60 from
numerous online vendors). I just wrapped a little foil around the tip
of the gun to provide support for the cartridge. I just used the tip
of a plastic soda bottle for a mouthpiece. It does not currently have
a valve like the comercial volcano, but for $500 more dollars I think
I can just hold the bag closed...
