cannabis tincture - is it worth making? Opinions, experience please

Date: Sep 27, 2007 12:48

Hi,

I recently found a recipe on the net for making a cannabis tincture,
which is made by soaking cannabis in an alcoholic drink.

http://www.ukcia.org/culture/eat.php#tincture

I would like to stop smoking but still occasionally enjoy the effects
of THC, and was wondering if this was worth looking into.

However, my question is -
is it really worth the bother of making this preparation when you
could just eat the grass or skunk in it's raw form - assuming, of
course, it is clean and unadulterated. (I never bother with hash
anyway as I prefer as pure a product as possible)

I just wanted to ask your opinion - does making a tincture using
alcohol make a product that is stronger and more effective than just
eating clean grass/skunk straight?

Or is it primarily just a way to sterilise cannabis products that
might otherwise be a bit risky to eat straight (since alcohol is an
effective sterilising agent)?

Does it have any other particular advantages or disadvantages?

Thanks if you can give me any advice or experience on this.

How about vaporizing?

I'd opt for making the water hash and eating
that if you don't wish to smoke. I have smoked bud for decades with
far less lung issues than when I smoked ciggies; in fact, my lungs
feel great and I haven't touched a ciggie for over 9 years but still
smoke bud. I try to grow the most tasty and desirable strains so what
I smoke in total is lots less than if I smoked "street weed". Grow
your own if you have any possible way to do so; even bagseed tends to
turn out to be pretty damn good smoke if properly grown. Commercial
weed gets roughly handled and subjected to temperature extremes and
other stresses that detract from how good the bud is when you smoked
it. When you grow your own from the seed, usually it is *so* much
better than the original weed for those reasons.
So, to lessen the negative effects of smoking
herbal delights, grow your own and if necessary make water hash out of
the bud to lessen the smoke byproducts of the non-psychoactive plant
matter that is removed in the hash making process.
To lessen the harmful effects of smoking the
hash, it can be eaten at this point or dissolved in alcohol and
injested as a tincture. Either form may be cooked with as well, making
for some incredible brownies. To increase the level of thc further, ...
