BudBurner,
I aspire to be in the position you are. Within the next 5 years, I plan on
selling my suburban community home and moving out to a tract of land I
purchased some years ago where I intend to plant a house. I'll have a fair
sized concrete basement directly under the house precisely for that reason.
I have absolutely NO intention of selling (unless it becomes completely
legal) and would never grow than just a few plants at a time. If I do that,
I'll significantly reduce my monthly living expenses because I would no
longer have MJ in my monthly budget . Perhaps in time (some years),
we may have the opportunity to trade seeds.
I'm one of those types who was in a position where I had random urine tests
for more than 20 years. I abstained completely during that time, and have
since left that career. I specifically choose a second career where I do
not have to submit samples nor am I placed in a position of exposure or
required to deal with the criminal elements in regards to the subject at
hand. I did my time, and now I will do as I please. I'm just extremely
disheartened that I did my time for the freedoms of our country, but we
continue to have this ridicules prohibition! You may not remember, but we
conversed once before (last year) when I left that life.
When that time comes and I move to that tract of land, my initial plan is to
make a trek to CA and meet with some growers and obtain some samples of
various seeds. I've studied the herbology of growing for quite some time;
different techniques including soil vs. hydro and combinations in between.
I think that will actually be a very fun hobby, a fun past time .
Warmest regards,
DudeMaster

The state I live in isn't exactly cannabis friendly either.
However, the county I live in would just as soon leave you alone as
long as you don't attract attention, so I have enjoyed a fair bit of
safety. Plus, I *never* deal weed, just grow my own. I like the low
profile approach to being a cannabis rebel, and silently but steadily
give away beans in hopes of starting other folks on the path to self-
sufficiency for their own ganga. Let me tell you, it is worth the
effort! A mild amount of paranoia about getting caught is a good
thing; never think you have everyone outwitted. I've done tons of
stuff to reduce or eliminate my thermal footprint and since nothing I
do is big enough to attract attention I have thus far grown my own
with impunity.
And, the ganga has been good! If you grow just about any kind
of bud, you will have some good smoke. After a while, you get your
favorites but that is always going to change as you get new strains
that really get your attention! You end up trying to do seed crops to
keep the strain going so you can grow it again and then you try
breeding, and then you suddenly find that you have become a shadow
activist and grower, spreading seed around to those who want it,
making green things sprout where they have never been seem before and
will remain unseen! The home gardener makes up a larger portion of our
populace than you would ever think. There are grow shops all over, and
it is very likely that the majority of the home growers keep it a
super secret. This is for a good reason, because our heavy handed
federal government makes such a big deal out of drugs in general and
pot growing in particular.
The statement, "over grow the government" was *not* invented
by me by any means, but it most certainly seems to be the most
successful way to defeat the oppressors. Once everyone has a grow in
their closet/basement/attic/wherever, the oppression will cease.
