A few months back a thread ran on this newsgroup concerning using LED's
and whether they stacked up to HPS or Halides for full cycle growth . I
was unable to find out if they had any potential as an alternative light
source due to travel and family matters. Is it thumbs up or wait a few
years ?

It depends on your needs. At the most its prolly wait 6-mos to a
year.

However, I have converted almost entirely now. I am using a hodgepodge
of LED products of various types that I experimented with. Currently I
am using the 50watt panels from HTG as my primary light source. With a
collection of 12watt panels, and 5-12watt bulbs. I have currently got
several 14inch square single plant/single panel scrogs going the first
of those will be ready in a few weeks if you want to check back, but
based on what I am seeing so far its going to be really good.

Words like " revolutionary" come to mind when I read your post. Home
gardening may become the biggest cottage industry in the US and this
will drop the street cost too. Science marches on !
Thanks for your reply.

Wooohoooo! I agree, just a couple years and you are going to be able
to do incredible things underground solar etc. Already whatever you
could safely grow with hps you can have a grow 4 times+ larger with
out increasing your electric/thermal footprints.

I just love talking about it. :-) If I could get my google/picassa
images connection working I would post some lovely fruit pix.
