Scapa - Pleasant Surprise

I had heard various things about the Scapa 12, but I bought some anyway.
It is REALLY quite surprisingly nice.

Very light. Long finish. Some velvet. A little like the Glenfarclas CS
without the mule kick to the head. Vanilla. Not particularly complex,
but would actually be a good starter for someone looking for a first
single malt. Probably 3rd behind the Glenfarclas CS and Glendrannoch 12
yo as a sort of daily dram.

Agreed. It's surprisingly complex.

I'll try those other 2. I'm biased towards the Scapa for genealogical
reasons, but am most willing to try others.

I didn't even realize ther was a Scapa 12. I've tasted the 14 and
quite like it. Lots of sweet caramel and butter toffee with a little
twinkle of salt. Have you tried the 14? How does it compare with the
12?

Here are my notes on the 14 (posted as Colin).
