There is a newsgroup alt.drinks.irish-whiskey, to which this post could
perhaps have been more usefully addressed.

Did your friend not tell you about Bushmills?

Now, now. In the 8 or 10 years I've followed this group, diversions into
other sorts of whisk(e)y have always been welcomed. I think there was
even an FAQ once upon a time that spelled this out. We've discussed
Canadian, Irish, American and Japanese whiskies at one time or another,
and even gins, cognacs and beers from time to time. I see no reason to
start drawing lines now, with so few posters still active, so long as
the focus stays on scotch malts..

Thanks for a very pleasant and useful post, Bill. When my wallet is a
little fatter, I'll check out the Connemara, Green Spot and Red Breast.

Indeed so! I apologise if I gave offence i simply thought that anyone with
an interest in Whisk(e)y would have known about both groups.

I don't know where you're posting from but my cupboard contains an as yet
unopened bottle of Bushmills 10 year old single malt, in addition to the
more usual black Bush.

Show me. The several Usenet news servers I have access to have never
heard of alt.fan.irish-whiskey. The Google archive of everything that
has ever been posted to Usenet has never heard of alt.fan.irish-whiskey.
I smell troll. And a patronizing one at that.

I'm posting from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and I'm quite
aware there are several expressions of Bushmills, thank you. If you want
to specify something other than the mass-market expression...

My news server (Individual.net) shows 'alt.drinks.irish-whiskey' in its list
of groups.

Looks like it does actually exist but maybe isn't carried by everyone.

Bill, I do have Usenet access to alt.drinks.irish-whiskey

Hate to disagree with Bill on any whisky/whiskey topic but there is indeed
an "alt.drinks.irish whiskey" forum.
Unfortunately the current posts only feature:
A Jack Daniels T-shirt "Deal"
A post about Wild Turkey Rare Breed
A SPAM link to "Youburp, The Movie"
An actual Irish Whisky post about Knappogue Castle
And -after all the static dumped on Nemo-his original query, curiously
marked "OT".

Does ANYBODY care about single malt scotch anymore?
