Hi all,
Has anyone tried the above? I like the stanard 16 year old very
much, but have now stared drinking some of the sherried malts ie
Glenfiddich Solera Reserve, Macallan 15 Year Old Fine Oak and Aberlour
a'bunadh.
I'm just wondering if the heavy peating and sheery go together
well. We are on a tight buget and I don't want to wasting £50 on a
bottle of Whiskey I don't like.
Cheers,
Drew

Don't know the Lagavulin but I recently opened a Laphroaig which was
matured in a sherry cask. I'd say sherry goes well with the typical
Islay-Taste of salt, wind, sand and peat ;-) The Laphroaig at cask
strength is just "wow". Very heavy with sand, diesel, harbour with a
sweetness which blows your mind away.

Hi!
I've tried the Lagavulin 1990/2006 Distillers Edition, and I liked it just
as much as the standard 16 yo. The peat was typically "lagavulinish", and in
addition the sherry was noticable with dried fruit and more sweetness. I
thought it worked swell together :^)

All of the above is exactly my opinion.
