I've used a series 2 with my DirectTV standard box and it worked just
fine. Are you using a telephone line or network connection to download
the guide for the TiVO? If you are using a phone line that is a VOIP
(ie Vonage) that may be your problem also it takes much longer to
download the guide over the phone line vs using a network internet
connection.
