Fame Lecture at Woodstock School of Art
Monday August 18th, 2008
At 7PM with Painter Henrietta Montooth, a talk and slide show on
artistic methods and social context.
Henrietta is a painter/writer residing in New York City and Woodstock.
She is experimental with paint and with a variety of materials
including words and spaces, often combining all of these elements into
installations. She also works in theater as visual artist and
performer.

Henrietta lived and worked in Latin America, traveling to farming and
fishing villages, Indian settlements and ancient ruins, and areas of
Afro culture and rituals.

³I accompanied rustic pilgrimages where people rode for days in the
back of trucks, on horse and mule back or ox carts in biblical fashion
to make offerings, sell their wares and livestock, buy salt and...

On July 12th there will be an opening reception for Staats Fasoldt and
Ed Berkise at the Doghouse Gallery, the little gem on Glasco Tpk. near
the Woodstock day school.
The opening is from 4-6pm; Tom Wright¹s...

This year the gallery will reopen in a transformed state and we are all
energized about the positive changes. Redesigned with subtle taste by
architect Richard Freed ... who kept one eye on the past and the other
on the potential of the building. Contractor Paul Shultis Jr., an
artist in construction, has overseen this restoration. It will be a
comfortable and attractive place for our students to visit and staff to
work in, and it is certain to become a focal point for alumni
activities in the future.
Paula Nelson deserves much applause for her hard work in this
project. The complicated move to the temporary office site in studio 5
was achieved by Paula and her staff with minimal disruption of the
school¹s class schedule. The help of the work-study students and
volunteers was invaluable in the move. You can imagine sorting through
27 years of records and memorabilia, all stored in the gallery, while
also bringing studio 5 up to speed as an office, meaning upgrading the
electric and adding phone and computer access. Not a small job. So to
Paula and Karen, Eric, Mandara, Mimi, and Ed --- Bravo!
The new office-gallery will permit year-round exhibits. Formerly the
gallery was unheated and used only in the summer. The new, large,
air-conditioned space will be more flexible as an exhibit area with ...

Images of Rosendale, our beloved town, by Staats Fasoldt and Walter
Earl will be shown at the Rosendale Cafe in December 2007.
There will be an opening reception on Sunday December 9th 2-4pm where
you can meet the artists.
Walter is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park
and a digital artist. He has been documenting Rosendale for many
years.
Staats Fasoldt is an artist who teaches at The Woodstock School of Art.
Staats has also been recording the town in paint.
Some years ago Staats and Walter created a art web site called Garbanzo
