Bahais Lose Recognition Fight in Egypt

Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit

[The very rich, peaceful, suspiciously US- and Israel-friendly
Bahais have been declared "pro-Israeli apostates" in Egypt and their
religious status removed. From the article, it appears that Buddhism
isn't recognized either; the Egyptian constitution recognizes only
the "Big 3" -- Judaisim, Islam and Christianity. -NY Transfer]

Bahais lose Egypt recognition fight

The Egyptian constitution promotes freedom of
belief for Islam, Christianity and Judaism only

An Egyptian court has denied Bahais the right to state their religion on
official documents and described them as pro-Israeli apostates, in a

Moussa briefs Saudi king on Lebanon

Moussa is trying to coax government and opposition
leaders to agree to form a national unity cabinet

Amr Moussa, the Arab League secretary-general, called on Saudi Arabia's
king to intervene to help Lebanon's deepening political crisis, officials
said.

Moussa visited Riyadh on Sunday to hold talks with Saudi officials
including King Abdullah.

Al Jazeera quoted Moussa as saying that he would return to Beirut on
Tuesday to resume mediation.

Moussa recently visited Lebanon, where there was progress in his efforts to
bring rival leaders closer to reaching an agreement on defusing political
and sectarian tensions.

Putin reported 'furious' over US payment for Lebanon war;
CIA Egypt terror ring

Reports from the Kremlin today are portraying President Putin as being
'furious' with the American War Leader Bush over his breaking of a promise
to the Russian President to not provide US funding to the Israelis for
their Lebanese War. Less than 3 weeks after making this promise the United
States used a little known provision in their security agreements with
Israel to fully pay for the war, and as we can read as reported by Israel's
Ynet News Service in their article titled "US to double emergency equipment
stored in Israel", and which says:

Making Lebanon safe from cluster bombs

MIDDLE EAST: Some 1.2 million unexploded cluster bombs are littering
southern Lebanon

by Michael Jansen in Tyre

The million-plus unexploded cluster bombs fired by Israel last summer
into southern Lebanon are slowly being cleared by expert disposal teams.
Chris Clark, head of the UN Mine Action Co-ordination Committee, says
work should finish by December next year.

There are currently 38 teams in the field and another 11 are preparing
for deployment by the end of January. In addition there are seven teams
dealing with other live munitions, including five demining units.

Mounting crises in escalating chaos
by Hasan Abu Nimah

The people of this region are being abandoned by the world to escalating
chaos. The political crisis in Lebanon is a manifestation of this chaos,
linked more broadly to the catastrophe in Iraq, and the butchery in
Palestine. Despite empty gestures, fake goodwill and worn out slogans from
a parade of prominent visitors to Jericho, Gaza and some regional capitals,
there is no reason at all for hope.
