The Greeks Rule! How the Greeks Shaped Our Perception of Ancient
Egypt
Speaker: Dr. Steven B. Shubert, SSEA
Wednesday, July 16, 2008 | 7:00 pm
Room 323, 4 Bancroft Ave, Toronto, Ontario, Canada [MAP]

Our understanding of ancient Egypt has been shaped by a framework
provided by such ancient Greek sources as Manetho, Plutarch, Diodorus
and Herodotus. Steven B. Shubert has worked on archaeological digs in
both Egypt and Greece and has studied both the ancient Egyptian and
ancient Greek languages. In this lecture he will explore how and why
much of our Egyptological vocabulary is derived from the work of
ancient Greek historians. Come and examine the Greek origins of the
Dynastic system, the names of gods, kings, cities, and many other
terms integral to the study of Egyptology.
The third in the Toronto Chapter's new Summer Series of popular
lectures free to members of The SSEA. A $5 fee is requested from non-
members. Light refreshments will be served.

The apostle Paul, in his second letter to the Thessalonians, foretold the
great apostasy which would result in the establishment of the papal power.
He declared that the day of Christ should not come, "except there come a
falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is
worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself
that he is God." And furthermore, the apostle warns his brethren that "the
mystery of iniquity doth already work." 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4, 7. Even at
that early date he saw, creeping into the church, errors that would prepare
the way for the development of the papacy.

This is so fucked up and unacceptable. This kind of shit happens alot in
Iran, as they are one of the few countries that execute children, even
though they promised not to, and they already execute homosexuals, which
they consider to be sodomy. Now the Iranian government wants to make the
death penalty mandatory for any apostates, or people who convert from Islam.
In fact they want to have universal jurisdiction in this regards, ensuring
that any converts from Islam are executed.

they kill little girl?
fuck them all!

It should be bombarded not with bombs but with the truth. Media, academic
should stop pandering to islamic assholes and start tellign the truth. islam
kills its critics because truth hurts it. When you see muslims protesting
against some bullshit slight then we should protest against their relgion
for all its evil and see how silent muslims become. Appeasing muslims will
not work. It will encourage them. Standing up to them they will break.

Traditions can excuse many atrocities. Mutilations, mishandeling of animals,
and so on...

Open and Shut Door
[From the Seventh-day Adventist Encyclopedia, Second Revised Edition,
Commentary Reference Series vol. 11 (Hagerstown, Maryland: Review and Herald
Publishing Association, 1996), pp. 249-252.]
OPEN AND SHUT DOOR. An expression derived from Rev. 3:7, 8, where Christ is
described as the one "that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and
no man openeth" (an allusion to Isa. 22:22), and as the one who says to the
Philadelphia church, "Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no
man can shut it." Seventh-day Adventists have applied these texts to the
closing of the first phase and the opening of the second and final phase of
Christ's ministry in heaven, where He has been the Christian's high priest
since His sacrifice on the cross (see Sanctuary). Christ's dual ministry was
prefigured by the service of the ancient high priest, who served "unto the
example and shadow of heavenly things" (Heb. 8:5). In the earthly sanctuary
he served daily in the holy place, the first apartment of the sanctuary, and
once a year in the Most Holy Place, the inner shrine where was the golden
ark in which were the tables of the Ten Commandments and over which appeared
the visible glory of God. This entering into the Holy of Holies took place
on the Day of Atonement in the ceremony of the cleansing of the sanctuary
(Lev. 16). ...

"Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the
feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none
render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both
among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In
every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all
things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole
spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it" (1
Thess. 5:14-24).
