Almond-Pistachio Sugar Cookies

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
3 tablespoons light cream or milk
1/4 cup almond extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup ground pistachio nuts

Beat butter in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high
speed for 30 seconds.
Add the 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and dash salt. Beat till combined.
Beat in egg, light cream or milk, and almond extract till combined.
Beat in as much flour as you can with the mixer.
Stir in ground nuts and any remaining flour with a wooden spoon.
Divide dough into thirds. Cover and chill for 3 hours.
Roll out one-third of the dough at a time on a lightly floured surface to
1/8-inch thickness.
Cut into stars, trees, or other shapes using 2-1/2" to 3" cookie cutters.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with additional sugar.
