  St. Stanislaus Church Meriden

Author: Tom Coss
Date: Sep 21, 2008 10:58

The parish family of St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden, CT. has been
getting a few write ups in the local newspaper, The Record Journal, in
the past few weeks. On August 20th, 1908, one hundred years ago, many
people in the Meriden, CT. area were surprised to hear that the new
Polish church in Meriden was fast nearing completion and plans for the
dedication of the edifice have been arranged by The Rev. Msgr. Ceppa,
pastor of the church. Labor Day was chosen for the date of this big
event. When the dedication ceremonies took place, the church was not
entirely completed as there was considerable work to be finished on the
church steeple. The old church on the hill on Oak Street was too small
for the growing parish so this new larger church had to be built. Today,
over 100 years later, St. Stanislaus Church and School are still here
and doing well served by Father Edward Ziemnicki as pastor. The church
is located on the corner of Olive and Akron Streets in Meriden, CT. just
a short drive off Broad St. If you are ever in the area please stop by
for Mass. For directions, further information, and Mass times call the
rectory at 203-235-6341 and someone will help you! I wish the Parish
Family of St. Stanislaus All The Best and STO LAT for another 100 years!
Thanks FRIENDS, Take Care, And GOD BLESS! Dziekuje Bardzo i Bog Zaplac!

  Accordion Player Dies At 53

Author: Tom Coss
Date: Sep 11, 2008 16:01

I could not believe what I was reading when I picked up the Meriden, CT.
newspaper on Wednesday August 6. The Record Journal story that got my
attention was, "Local Accordion Master Dies." Matthew Nozzolio, 53, of
Middletown, CT., who was a good friend of mine, died unexpectedly in New
Haven, CT. while playing at the Farmers Market. I first met Nozzolio at
a meeting of The Connecticut Accordion Association in Cheshire, CT. I
always knew him as an accomplished Accordion player. One day I received
a call from a Southington, CT. convalescent home asking me if I could
come and play my Accordion for the patients. Because of my 6 day a week
work schedule I had no free time. I E-Mailed Mat on my computer and he
said he would be glad to take the job for me. All worked out well thanks
to Mat. I also...

TOM COSS - A Very Good FRIEND Of Lisa!

I knew Lisa Verdolini for many years from the restaurant that her family
owned and over the past few years from seeing her at the Healing
Services that I went to. As a child growing up on Randolph Ave. we
always enjoyed Pizza from Verdolinis. The restaurant was just a short
walk from where I lived! Not too long ago I saw Lisa at the Meriden, CT.
Post Office and we talked for a long time. She took my phone number and
said she would call me but she never did. Now I know why. She was sick
with Cancer. I am So Sorry to hear this Sad News! I will miss her
Greatly! She always said Hello to me when we saw each other and always
had something nice to say that made my day! May Lisa Always Rest In
PEACE, AMEN! ~Tom Coss~
