Wavy lines occasionally appear on our Gateway monitor. They go away for
a while if I press on the monitor frame/border. I tried unplugging the
electrical cable and cable to the pc, rubbing the connections with a
pencil eraser, and reseating the cables. It helped but did not make the
problem go away entirely. Now I am thinking that the connections are
dirty and not making consistent contact. Is there some kind of spray
cleaner or formula that would get rid of the problem? Thanks for any
advice.

A company that is not a phone co. offered a contract for stand alone
DSL.
1) If DSL is always on, does that mean that you're connected to the
Internet everytime the machine is booted up? Isn't there a switch to
turn it off and on?
2) I want to keep a cheap dial-up ISP as a back-up. If all of the
hardware is installed outside on the NID phone box, isn't it true that
I can keep my current dial-up without making any changes to the PC and
phone jack? If so, when I dial up, does it override the DSL?
Thanks

I have an acer Aspire 5050 laptop. I am currently having problems with
my screen. On occasion (about 4-5 times a day), my screen becomes a
big mess of blinking white lines. I can fix it by simply adjusting
the power cord where it plugs into the computer. It never really last
that long, but I'm have a feeling of impending doom, like maybe
someday I won't be able to fix it. Has anyone ever heard of this and
can you give me some help on the matter.
Thank you in advance,
Mary Anne

Hi,
I'm partitioning a new drive and wonder what the best size would be for the
partition that will hold Windows Vista and all my other applications. Any
ideas please?
Derek.

I have a Vundo virus on my computer. What I have found to remove it
suggests to disable system restore, go into safe mode and run virus scan and
remove the virus components. Will disabling SR remove all previous
restores?

The cheapest dial-up yields at least one busy signal every third day
and downloads at 24-48 kbps.
Another one rarely has a busy signal, downloads at 24-48, and has a
nice Usenet server.
The third one never has a busy signal but download speed never tops
28.
Total monthly cost for all 3 is about the same as one DSL which is now
finally available here.
Sure would like to have DSL to see video clips, youtube, etc.
Unfortunately, the reports from consumers on the Internet regarding
DSL product reliability and lousy support have scared me off.
