AVG automatic update is disabled permanently? Virus?

Author: lbbss

We had a mass-emailer Trojan, but it's a clean now. I followed all
kinds of instructions online, to clean it up. Our internet
connection is fast again. But now My AVG has a ! symbol on the avg
icon. When look inside avg program, the update manager has a message
"A.bin file missing". I am still able to click on update manually
and then it updates definitions. But next day I get that same
working "!" on the avg icon and in the update manager. Automatic
update is enabled but it does not seam to work. I wounder if that
means I still have a virus? thanks.

I am running avg 8 under windows vista for months. Today I get message
"a .bin file is missing", when trying to update new files.

I tried reinstalling and uninstalling program several times. It didnt
work.

I tried system restore. It didn't work either.

What caused tis problem and what is the solution?

I am very pleased with this program and want to retain it.

You fucking no-hoper, chucktard.

Viri is the nominative plural of 'vir,' or man, a 2nd declension noun. The
plural of virus is viruses.

Stick a genitive singular up your nominative arse and choke on it, you
fucking goat.

Hijacked: Why can't I System restore one month ago?

Author: lbbss
Date: Aug 13, 2008 21:20

I have win xp and Have been hijacked. Ran Spybot, adaware and avg to
clean (found 6 trojans at least), but internet is still slow. So I
wanted to system restore to a one month ago, but the system restore
calender will not go back to jully. The only date it allows me to
restore is yesterday's date. Is this due the hijacker? Internet as
expected is very slow and got email from isp due to the high
traffic. Where do I start? thanks.

What best virus checker (to boot from CD)

Author: Richard Ferryman

In days gone by I always used a bootable floppy with McAfee to check my PC
but these days useAVG free. This raises a problem that some viruses
install themselves so as to be invisible to normal scanning. Booting from
another OS or boot device stops the virus from hiding itself. Question is
whether there is a good virus checker that I can boot from CD to
inspect/repair any infection on my Windows XP Pro SP3 system?

A friend of mine thinks he has a bios virus. He had a message about
virtumonde, then his XP crashed. Since then, even after swapping hard disks
he gets the following error whenever he tries to reload XP
file ntfs.sys caused an unexpected error (4096) at line 5091 in
d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup.c

Any way to tell if virus or bad equipment

BugHunter sig update - to handle new Rogue Antivirus Master

Author: Dustin Cook
Date: Aug 7, 2008 21:24

I have released a minor signature update that allows BugHunter to scan for
and optionally disable/remove the rogue application known as Antivirus
Master. MBAM already detects and can remove this threat for you if your
running an NT based OS. (win2k,XP,vista). For those running non supported
OSes, BugHunter is for you. :)
