Hi.

I need to set up a quality home monitor system.

Cost is not the prime consideration.

I need 3 or 4 IP wireless cameras with good images quality and audio as an
option.
I need to be able to view the cameras from anywhere preferably with access
control (password)
The must be no PC at the property
The property will have a BB connection (not static IP)

I guess I'll need the following:

Wireless Router
The Cameras
The BB Connection
A built in Web Service
A DNS facility to keep the BB IP known the Web Service.

Would something like the Axis 207W be the type of thing?

I bought the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000, but the audio was so poor, you
could barely hear my voice even with the volume way up. After reading
online, lots of others had the same issue with it.

So what should I get. I'd like to keep it around $30, but will spend
more if I need to. I am using it for IMing w/ relatives.

I am in the unique position to offer some assistance to a company in
the form of webcam monitoring. They don't want to spend anything, but
it might lead to a job for me.
Can someone fill me in on a cheap or even free webcam monitoring
software that I can use?

The computer would be running 8-10 hours during the day
the webcam would need to ALWAYS be capturing the images

I am hoping this is easy to set up, but time will tell.

Hi folks! I'm new to Google Groups and, in particular, to this usenet
group. So, I'd appreciate it if you'd bear with me for a few
moments. I have a few questions on the workings of a webcam which
are, probably, answered elsewhere on the Internet.

My lady friend has a webcam setup at her computer which I can access,
however, I do not have a webcam. So, I have the link which activates
her webcam. Here are my questions...

1) When I click on her webcam link, an image of her webcam scan
comes up on my screen.
Does she know that I've clicked on the link and that I'm
looking at her? Does her webcam
signal that she's being observed? Or is there a visual on
her monitor indicating that she's
being observed?

2) If I switch to another window or tab (the window or tab
showing the webcam image has
now lost focus!) does she know that I'm no longer looking at
her?

Does anyone know of a ~ $150 power over ethernet web camera? Im
thinking of something like the USB style Logitech cameras that uses
ehternet for its power and data? It would be a long cable run to a
location where there is no power. I've looked and there doesnt seem
to be any place that has them for this price, have mostly found them
in the $500 and up range...
