I have Roxio Creator DE ver 9 on my pc (running Vista 32bit).

I have a 64 Mb file (exe) on the pc that I would like to burn to a cd-
r.

I have never done this before.

Do I treat this file as a data disc?

“To dye or not to dye?” ... that is the question. At least that was
the question I began asking myself a decade ago as I grew weary of
dyeing my grey-streaked hair. Back then, upon presenting my dilemma to
my hairdresser I chose to follow his self-serving advice, “You’ll have
plenty of time to go grey!”

Giving up the quest for a glamorous, youthful look was especially
difficult for me as I had been the fashion queen; owning fashion
boutiques, doing image consulting and writing a fashion column for ten
years. I had felt pity for my sister-in-law years ago, when she
decided not to dye her hair. At that time I vowed to never “let myself
go,” and remain as youthful and glamorous as human powers would
permit.

Yet, rather suddenly, more years of dying my hair passed and I found
myself resenting being held hostage every six weeks to grey roots,
chemicals soaking my scalp, dark stains along my hairline, and fumes
in my eyes and lungs.

DiscSpeed is a free download from Nero, which includes an erase function.

The dialog has both Erase and Format functions. What is the difference? SCSI MMC has ERASE.

One of my DVD+RW has a faint arc scratch, which shows up as hard errors at 3GB.
Should erase pick this up? The laser has to switch between read (tracking) and writing,
and can detect some flaws during the former.

Okay, here's the situation:

Say you have about 2200 source code files. Spread across a handful of
subfolders and varying numbers of subfolders in each of those.

They were burned to a CD, and when you do a visual compare in Windows
Explorer between the files on the CD and the same files on a hard drive,
they appear to be the same. Same filenames, same file sizes,
modification dates/times.

However, if you run a file compare (say windiff), you notice that about
2/3rds of the files are coming up different.

Look in one of the subfolders. There are say 5 files: a.h (2k in size),
b.h (16 kb), c.h (10 kb), etc.

If you look at a file in the subfolder, say "a.h" (C language header
file) and open it in a text editor, you discover it's really the text
from "b.h". At least only the first 2kb of it. Open b.h and it's the
rest of the b.h file (resuming exactly where the previous file left
off), plus at the end, a bit of the top of c.h.

It's like the bytes are all there, but "shifted" onto the next sector.
The degree of "shifting" appears to be about 1680 bytes.

I spent hours figuring out how to do this with free software, so I'll share it.

Many DVD recorders and some cameras record to DVD-R/W in DVD-VR format. This creates a VRO file
containing MPEG-2, much like a VOB. You might play it with mplayerc, but renaming it to VOB may not
work with other stuff.

Looking for software to convert it mainly leads to AVS Video software, but there is a free
alternative: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html .

MPEG Streamclip is based on QuickTime, and will convert VRO to MPG or split into A/V stream files.
The latter can be converted to a VIDEO_TS folder for burning with IFOedit. (you don't need Apple
MPEG-2 to do above, just for preview or conversion).

To protect our clients and guarantee quality of service we will spam
