I'm running RedHat Linux ES 4.0 with Gnome 2.8 and I would like to do the
following:
- Define new MIME types for my specific files
- Associate new icons to these file types
- Associate new contextual applications to open these files ("Open with...")
I would like to make these changes system wide.
I have found myself I can define new MIME types in /usr/share/mime/packages
and run 'update-mime-database /usr/share/mime'.
But I haven't found out how can I associate icons to MIME types in Nautilus.
How this could be done?
I have also found how to associate applications to MIME types in Nautilus,
just by clicking on a file and choosing 'Properties' in the contextual menu
and then choosing applications, which will appear in the 'Open with..'
sub-menu. But these changes only apply for the current user, how can I
associate applications with file types system wide?
Thank you.
