Comodo update

Author: Mike Echo

I let Comodo update itself and now when I open the Comodo window it
takes forever to draw chunks of the interface, kind of like trying to
run a graphics intensive app when you have onboard graphics (I can't
think of a better way to describe it). Changing between pages within
Comodo also produces the same effect.

CPU and ram usage are normal, Comodo version is 3.0.17.304.

Feels like it is running like a slug but the computer seems normal
otherwise.

Anyone else have this problem? It was running fine before the update so
I should have left well enough alone.

Mike, if nobody answers, maybe somebody else is having a similar problem
and posted about it here:

Thanks Johnno, I'll take a look at that site. Before this episode,
Comodo was great (though I use the firewall only and turn off the
malware defence coz I find it annoying and cumbersome).

I've noticed that the GUI is sluggish to redraw, but this has been
consistent - no noticeable change since updating to 2.0.17.304. By the way,
it seems perkier in Vista Vs XP - must have to do with video drivers.

A pretty serious one. I've posted about it either to this group or
another (probably the security one). What happens is that, for no
apparent reason, occasionally all of my carefully created rules simply
disappear and the persfw.conf file gets reset back to what it was right
after the program was first installed. What alerts me that this has
occurred is that I started getting firewall alerts that somebody was
trying to get in through one port or another, ports that I knew I had
blocked.

My solution was to:

1. turn off my cable modem
2. shut down Kerio
3. replace the a problem with a backed up version.

I wrote two batch files to simplify the process. The first copies the
existing version to the backup folder, and the second overwrites the
existing version with the backup.

Several times, Bob. I read the forum John linked to and a lot of people
have this problem but there seems to be no single underlying cause.
*Mostly* it has to do with running cewrtain apps or non-standard desktop
candy. I terminated every possible process I could and it still ran like
a dog.

Gmail have changed something so if you use gmail you will need to update
in order to collect your email.

The list of changes is quite extensive. Hang on a tic... here ya go...

-----

v3.1 - October, 2007
* IMAP supports SSL/TLS
+ Installation has option to install SSL plugin
+ Compose New Message will use additional logic to determine the
default account
+ Imap uses the same timeout...

Ignore my previous post . For some reason I had it in my head we
were talking about the new Poppeeper update.

I will now bang my head on the desk three times.
