Program like OCR to work on line drawings?

Author: RF
Date: May 31, 2008 17:50

Hi Experts :-)

I have just started to use Open Office Draw and
it's a nice prog to work with on a fresh page but
I have problems drawing lines on an existing image
that I open into it.

Similarly for Photofiltre. It allows drawing on
new windows but not on images - same problem as Draw.

Is there any program like OCR that can separate
out lines on an image, say of an architectural
drawing or an electric circuit, to allow
modifications. I have been trying IrfanView to do
this but it is very slow and flaky.

TIA

Password protecting a USB drive (?)

Author: Hutton Conyers

I have searched without success for a freeware program that will
password protect a USB drive.

What I want is for the drive to ask for a password when it is plugged
in. Is this possible ?

I have looked at programs such as TruCrypt and AxCrypt but while these
are very good they are not what I am looking for.

I have a clone of the SanDisk Cruzer Micro which the SanDisk protect
software does not recognise.

TIA

Web site to facilitate NewsGroup images?

Unfortunately NGs don't allow image postings,
which might not be a bad
thing - imagine all the crap, porn etc.

Is there any such thing as web site support for NGs?

TIA

  AutoRun Maker

Author: Bear Bottoms

I've been looking for a replacement for APOUSBAutorun which is designed
for XP and it doesn't look like further development will keep up. I have
found a program that requires .NET 3.5 (which I already have anyway) that
runs on Windows 98/NT/ME/2000/XP/Vista. Unless I can find, or someone else
finds one as good that doesn't use .NET...I will hang on to it.

AutoRun Maker: http://autorunmaker.googlepages.com/index.html

"DESCRIPTION

AutoRun Maker simplifies the process of creating autorun CD/DVD discs and
USB drives. It supports all major functions supported in autorun.inf' file.

FEATURES

Can add a custom icon for your removable media (i.e. CD/DVD discs and USB
storage devices)

Can add a label to show in explorer.

Can add a file (either executable or document) to open automatically with
necessary parameters & AutoPlay label.

Can add additional shell commands to show on drive's context menu and sets
the user selected command default which executes whenever the user
double-clicks the drive icon in explorer.

PoszukujÄ™ pod DOS do odtwarzania .wav

Author: ptpwjp

C:\dospayer a.wav jakieś_opcje
albo
C:\dospayer jakieś_opcje a.wav
albo jeszcze lepiej:
C:\dospayer jakieś_opcje a.wav b.wav c.wav ....powiedzmy do 7-8 plików
albo
C:\dospayer a.wav b.wav c.wav ....powiedzmy do 7-8 plików jakieś_opcje
a fajnie by było gdyby było jeszcze
C:\dospayer sklej a.wav b.wav c.wav - co by oznaczało np. sklej a.wav z
b.wav na c.wav.

Oczywiście "dospayer" to wyimaginowana nazwa poszukieanego programu.

Re: Tool to display IP address and reverse DNS

How are you configured to the wan? My own configuration is cablemodem on
the wan, switchrouter bridging the wan and NATing my lan's IPs.

For me the 'fastest' way to get my WAN IP and its rDNS is to access a
website like WhatIsMyIP or IPChicken.
