If by chance you haven't tried it, do so. You may be surprised
how gentle the AVG resident is on the resources. FAR easier on
them than most of the "big name" virus protection programs,
particularly McAf** and N*V.

  Installation OS discs

Wouldn't it be possible to make a scanner that compares files between the
installation disc and existing intallation.

Added to this a database could contain all file info and wich application
every file belong to.

Files that do not comply to the "allowed database" could easily be erased
:D

(or asked about as doc's etc)

Would it be possible?

  Anti virus recommendation

Author: Rligouri
Date: Jan 18, 2007 09:26

I am looking for a recommendation for an antivirus solution for my
network. I am trying to avoid using multiple products and I want a
product thats is an all in one solution. I am looking to deploy across
an entire network of about 15 workstations and 4 servers. I need
support Win 98se, Win 2000 pro and server, Windows XP Pro and Windows
2003 server and storage server. We are currently not setup on a domain,
but in the near future I want to get a MS Small business server. The
following features are must:

1) antivirus

2) antispam

3) antispyware

4) central management application- monitor and manage workstation
antvirus software from a server.

Are there any subscription services available so I can always get the
new products (for example: Norton comes out with a new av software each
year that has new features added. I want to have all the new features
when they come out)

Thanks,

Rob

  removing NIS 2006

Author: Gary Roach
Date: Jan 18, 2007 05:37

I'm having trouble with NIS 2006 on a customer's machine. The login is
delayed for about 2 minutes during which explorer is not started yet (there
is only a blank desktop background picture) and ccApp is absent from the
task manager list of processes. I tried removing NIS 2006 and this fixed the
problem. I reinstalled NIS and the problem came back. the customer insists
on using this product so i suspect i need to do a clean uninstall and
reinstall. i can't find anything on symantec's site about doing a clean
uninstall of this product. i've found a tool by a company called ez tech
tools that purports to do this. is this a good way to go? any help is
greatly appreciated.
