Chemically Imbalanced Comedy presents Snubfest 2008 June 5-8 at the
Chemically Imbalanced Theater in Chicago.
With over 100 Comedy Festivals through out the country, talented
groups are bound to be rejected from one or more of them. Thats where
Chemically Imbalanced Comedys Snubfest Comedy Festival comes in.
Snubfest showcases groups from around the country (and for the first
time, Canada!) that have been snubbed from other festivals.
Snubfest 2008 participants have been rejected from:
Orlando Fringe Festival
Chicago Improv Festival
Boston Comedy Festival
Chicago SketchFest
DC Comedy Festival
Sketchfest NYC
San Francisco Sketchfest
Just For Laughs Comedy Festival
New Orleans Improv Festival
Del Close Marathon
But they also have received accolades:
"The Rashomon approach to improv, with various sides of the same story
offered up through monologue. On the night I attended, a hilarious
story about a prom gone array felt honest and true."- Chicago Tribune
about Found in Translation
"The music stands on its own, but songs such as âName That Pandaâ
and âI Got Two Black Friendsâ will make it clear itâs a comedy
show."-TimeOut Chicago about Lolo Balatro
"Best sketch comedy group" by the MAC awards- City Hall Sketch Comedy,
NYC
"Meg and Rob portray caricatures of various celebrity archetypes,
including politicians, lifestyle coaches, and television
personalities, with relatable and hilarious execution. The duo's
comedy finds good
purchase on its target, and the shallow self-importance of the
inexplicably famous shines in every moment, right through the
relentless, pancake-saturated climax. -- Will Dean, Philadelphia City

The Meg and Rob Show
Exiene Lofgren, NYC stand Up Comic, from The Ricki Lake Show, Sirius

"Marz Timms is physically imposing and explosive"- Jonathan Abarbanel,

How Snubfest has helped performers in the past:
"[Vatterott] showcased a few times for Bert Haas, Zaniesâ talent
scout, but Haas admittedly didnât 'get' him. It wasnât until
Vatterott was arguably in his element â hosting a raw stand-up
competition at Chemically Imbalanced Comedyâs 2006 Snubfest â
that he clicked with Haas, who was seated at the judgesâ table."-
From TimeOut Chicago Article on Nick Vatterott, host of The Last Snob
Standing Contest at Snubfest 2005, 2006, and 2008
"In particular with a very golden moment in my career, when [Snubfest]
got me into the Chicago Improv Fest and a headline review in the
Chicago Tribune. I'm not exaggerating when I say I owe a huge portion
of my current success to the attention I got on CIC's stage."- Robert
Buscemi 2005 Last Snob Standing Winner
"...game where audience members flogged performers during a scene, won
the group a side-stage slot at last yearâs Chicago Improv
Festival."- TimeOut Chicago about Name Change Pending Extreme Improv
"I can see why the troupe closed out the show [Phoenix Improv
Festival], since they were all great actors, quick-thinking and
witty." Nicki Escudero - The Arizona Republic (about Improv Group
Cornwallis who won Last Snob Standing 2007 and a performance slot in
Phoenix Improv Festival)
