I took my son to Best Buy yesterday for a little last minute desperation
shopping. While he was scurrying around, I took some time to look at the
large display of Verizon phones-- a lot of the "hot" phones people have been
jabbering about here for months.

Let me first say that I've been using the same old LG folder for the last
five or six years. Kinda scuffed and on the ratty side now-- but it does
today what it did when I bought it, makes calls, receives calls, high
intelligibility in both directions. That's all I need a phone for.

So I looked at the various BlackBerries, including the Storm, and all the
other ones from LG, Moto, Samsung, etc., including the VZW brand (not sure
who makes those).

My overall impression? Cheap, "plasticky", not well designed (especially the
keyboards for anyone with fingers larger than my 6 month old grandson), poor
fitting, not sturdy, weak hinge/slide mechanisms, etc.
