Unlocking a Nokia N95

Hi, I was wondering if there was any software I could use to unlock a Nokia
N95, it is currently locked to T-Mobile or is it best to contact T-Mobile
for the unlocking Code?

Are there any problems to watch out for if I unlock the phone myself?

No. There are unlocking solutions for the N95, but they are hardware based
and rely on testpoints, so will invalidate your warranty.

That would be the most sensible way.

It is extremely easy to fubar your handset when unlocking using the
testpoint methods.

How does an unsubsidized phone become locked to a carrier? At least here in
the US, you simply cannot buy an N95 from T-Mobile or any other carrier.

If a UK supplier supplies a phone to a customer as part of the contract it
is generally/always(?) locked to that company.
