N800 DUN over bluetooth with blackberry

I can pair my Blackberry 8310 with my N800 using bluetooth, but I
cannot use the blackberry as a dial up networking modem.
Is there a good reason for this?
Am I missing drivers?
Is this the fault of Nokia or RIM?

Fault of neither! This is a system issue from your sellphone carrier.

Who is your phone carrier? Only a few of them will allow BT tethering and
you must pay an extra fee, of course, for them to turn the function on,
even though you have data service on the Blackberry, already. Data service
tethered to the N800 is treated like a laptop tether. The Blackberry can't
use much data, but the tethered links can because the carrier cannot
disable the tablet or laptop (unless you install their hobbling software on
the laptop).

Call 611 on your blackberry and ask the script robot how much tethered data
service over DUN to a portable computer is from the Blackberry. He can
turn it on for you as soon as the price negotiations are over.

Nope. Fault of the carrier. It's the carrier's sellphone firmware the
Blackberry's running, just like every other sellphone you see. The
carriers typically turn off any feature that costs them money and bandwidth
or features they think naive buyers will be willing to buy back by the
month, paying sellphone companies over and over for what the phone had in
it before the carrier started the firmware trashing.
