This is, just, disgusting.
Can we impeach (and remove) the entire legislative, executive and
judicial branches?
I guess those are coffle stains and tire tracks on a piece of paper
that means NOTHING any more...

Senate Votes to Broaden Government's Spying Powers
By a vote of 68 to 29, the Senate gave final approval to a
bill that expands the government's spying powers and gives
legal protection to phone companies that cooperated in
President Bush's warrantless eavesdropping program.

Ah, yes. Giving up and running away is so much easier than standing up
and fighting for what you believe in. We wouldn't want to put any
actual effort into it, now would we?
The only reason the government gets away with this crap is because they
know that nobody's going to stand up to them. Everyone's just going to
stand around and bitch and moan, but nobody's going to do anything.
You want things to change? Get out and help change them. If you're not
willing to fight for your freedom--be it with a sword, a pen, or a
ballot--then you don't deserve to have any.
I don't know about anyone else, but when I see someone I love being
attacked, my reaction isn't to close my eyes and walk away. I may end
up bloody and broken right beside them, but at least I had the decency
to try.

It should be noted that this has yet to come before the judicial branch,
and it most certainly will be pursued in court.
You should also take note of Article I, Section 9 of the US Constitution:
"No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed."
While there have been cases where the government has granted immunity
from civil suits, there have been certain factors involved which are
considered essential, and which do not apply to this situation:

With all due respect, eff you. I'll make decisions for *myself*, and
you stick to making *your own*. Understood?
Understand something else, while you are at it. Six of my
great-grandparents and one of my grandparents left their home country
and came to the United States because they felt they would have better
lives under the conditions here at that time than the way things were
in their homeland. You have just called them cowards, and I don't
appreciate that. I reserve the same right to vote with my feet that
they enjoyed.

I'm going to add something more to my response to this. This nation of
ours started out with colonization in part by people who fled
oppression in their homeland(s) and emigrated to North America. Are
you going to suggest that they should have stayed home and fought
against their governments rather than coming here?
