I would like to introduce you to something that is far more sinister
and decadent than you could possibly imagine. When passing down a
small dirt road, occasionally you'll see a sign. To most passersby,
these signs serve as landmarks to your destination.
However, in some cases, these destinations are skewered into an
alternate reality unseen but by the most daring adventurers.
Sometimes, you may pass them by without ever knowing that you've been
there. If this is the case, be glad you're still here.
Specifically, what I would like to introduce you to is a Town called
Price. This is a place that you pray in your wildest dreams you never
come across.
What's so bad about that, you ask? What could possibly go wrong?
The answer is that you may never make it back alive to tell the tale.
In some cases, your personal history may be erased entirely from
existence. To some, this may be a godsend: A place to start over, and
make amends with yourself, your sins, and to those around you.
However, the salvation is bittersweet, as it is given. It just depends
on how much you are willing to sacrifice to keep it.

What difference does that make to his statements about Scripture?

The following sermon from Ron Ritchie teaches Biblically on three aspects of
Paul: appointed as preacher, apostle and teacher. Ron also shows from the
Bible how the Holy Spirit developed Paul's gifts. Ron Ritchie also points
out that the Holy Spirit has brought all Christians various spiritual gifts
that He wants us to use for His Glory.
May God bless,
Carl

APPOINTED A PREACHER, APOSTLE AND TEACHER
by Ron Ritchie
One day in 1962 while I was pursuing a graduate degree at Dallas Theological
Seminary, I went to one of my professors, Howard Hendricks, to ask him what
I would be when I graduated. Engineering schools...

And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD
Shall be saved. (Joel 2:32 , NKJV)
The jailer called for lights, and rushing in, he fell down trembling
before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them outside and said, "Sirs,
what must I do to be saved?" They answered, "Believe on the Lord
Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." (Acts
16:29-31, NKJV)
When I first met the Lord and truly surrendered my life to Him, I was
the only born-again believer in the home. And I wasn't really even in
the home. I was 17, and had already had to leave home because of my
conflicts with parental authority and the law.
In just a few days, though, I went to tell my mother about my new
faith in Christ. Right there in the house she knelt down and gave her
heart to the Lord. Soon she was joining me when I went to church
services. My step-father was another story. I and my mom both told
him what the Lord Jesus had done for us, but he had lived a hard life,
and it was difficult for him to give in to faith.

Although the parts about computers is dated, the Biblical message in John
Piper's sermon is indeed timeless. Sure, we computer users, especially us
old-timers, get a chuckle reading about "tri-color" monitors and the like
but the real joy is God's Word in the Biblical lesson John Piper preaches. I
hope you will take the time to read it and perhaps think about how the
Biblical points Piper raises apply to your life.
May God bless,
Carl

This John Calvin sermon deals with legalism and the freedom from it when our
faith is in Jesus Christ. This timeless sermon is just as applicable today
as it was when it was originally preached. This is one of those sermons that
is required reading in many Christian seminaries.

Carl

Freedom From The Bondage Of The Law
by John Calvin
Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it
is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a
freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he
of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are
the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage,
which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to
Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem
which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. - Gal. 4:21-26
Freedom is such a desirable thing to every one of us, that without it our
lives would be little more than a living death, or at the very least,
perpetual misery. Indeed, so far as we are able, we flee...

Olmert at the Grand Palais in Paris, 13 July 2008
Mr Sarkozy said he wanted love, not war, around the Mediterranean
French President Nicolas Sarkozy has launched a new international body
with 43 member nations aimed at ending conflict in the Middle East.
The Union for the Mediterranean will tackle issues such as regional
unrest, immigration to pollution.
At the summit's opening in Paris, Mr Sarkozy said its aim was to ensure
the region's people could love each other instead of making war.
Israeli and Palestinian leaders earlier expressed optimism about peace
talks.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Israel and the Palestinians have
never been as close to a peace deal as they are now.
