Description: Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, modifies existing designs, improves products, and facilitates manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and 2D and 3D graphic tools, preferably using SolidWorks and AutoCAD V.2000 to generate detailed designs and drawings. Develops basic information, makes studies, investigations, calculations, and prepares original concept layouts and sketches for presentations of design proposals; in accordance with standard engineering practices such as Mil-100, ASME-Y14.100, ANSI Y14.5, and general industry design/drafting standards.Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material and planning groups using PC/Windows Software (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.). Participates in design reviews and technical meetings. Works as a team member to improve safety, reliability, ease of manufacture, improve availability of materials, and meet contractual specifications. BS ME or equivalent degree with minimum five years experience in the design of complex mechanical equipment.
