  Logoff events

Author: Ugoff
Date: Jul 26, 2008 23:32

After toying with my WWIV 4.30/5.0 setup, I have it working stable (for
now). I've been attempting to add logoff events, but they don't seem to
run. I have a logon event that works, but no matter that I set in the
logoff event line, it does nothing.

I noticed that in WWIV the System Events text will copy a portion of the
end of the text to the next line if it exceeds a certain length. I avoid
this by using batch files in the root of the hard drive. (c:\1.bat,
f:\2.bat, etc..) I had a logoff event setup as a test at one point, but
I removed it and it has not worked since, no matter what node I use.

Is there a trick to getting logoff events working?

  WWIV 5.0 + modem?

Author: Ugoff
Date: Jul 20, 2008 18:59

Is WWIV 5.0 supposed to work with real modems? I know the idea was to
get it on telnet, but I'd like to keep the dial-up line available as
well. I read a message here that someone had temporarily put up a WWIV 5
board with telnet and modem, but that was a year or two ago.

I ask because I have tried, but the program crashes when it tries to
initialize the modem. It's using the same init string from before I
added WWIV 5, and 4.3 still works. It looks as though the project has
been long abandoned on Sourceforge.

I have nothing to do with the web site I shall mention below. However,
they're looking for history on BBS's in general. If you ran one and it's
not on their list, maybe you'll add it....
