Hi,
I have a question.
Car: 2001 Forester. ~82K miles, 90 monthts since I bought the car.
Dealer wants 90K service done just now. Should I go ahead with it, or wait
till the car has 90K miles on it?

For someone who is a new at this, can someone tell me where exactly I
can locate my vehicle's computer connector? I have a 2004 Subaru
Outback Sedan Ltd. Tony indicated it is below the dash on the
driver's side, but I can't locate it. Many thanks. R...

1990 Subaru Loyale turbo automatic:
My drivers side timing belt slipped due to the tensioner going bad.
Now the cam is off. How do you turn the cam pulley to get the mark
lined back up?

After reading some previous threads about coolant system additives as
"fixes" for the infamous blown head gasket problem, I thought I'd share
a different story.
"Mouse Milk" is a term used for any "mechanic in a can" item.
My 2000 OBW had a slight case of hesitation when first put into any
forward gear (auto, 4EAT) when I bought it. It wasn't much, maybe 5
seconds or so, and only after sitting for at least a couple of hours.
That was when I bought it 3 years ago. I had a transmission flush done
on it, then it went to 10-20 seconds after that. It wasn't a
showstopper, so I've lived with it for a couple of years now, planning
on having the transmission dropped and looked at when I got my tax
refund. That never happened as there was always something more immediate
that ate the money.
I put a $10 can of Sea Foam transmission additive in it a week ago, and
the problem stopped! I followed the can's instructions plus what the
partscounter guy said as well. I ran it thru every gear for at least 5
minutes... including reverse. I probably got some funny looks as I was
making full-lock circles in reverse for 5 minutes in the school
district's parking lot.....

After several days of desert dirt road driving the 3d gear of my
manual impreza transmission strated having problems shifting: I always
get a grinding noise when I stick the 3d in. Two separate mechanics
say it's the 3d gear synchronizer and that the whole transmission
needs to be rebuilt, with quotes above $3K? I did not expect that
much, is it what it costs for Subarus? Can I just keep driving until
the car dies (it got 120K). I found that if I bring the RPMs as low as
possible I can shift the 3d fine, but this creates a delay in the
shifting.

If you got to make the ultimate road trip (and money, geographic
location of the trip and the make / model of the desired car you'd
most want to use wasn't a limitation), what things or person/s would
you most want to take with you and please say why.
You can take any high profile person/s you admire, irrespective
whether anyone named is living or is presently deceased and could be
brought back to life.

Okay, so ever since I got my Subaru GL in 2006, I've been having problems.
Last year around this time, we noticed that the distributor cap was sending
faulty signals to the sparkplugs, and got it fixed. Along with that, we had
a $1200 tune-up.
And as of late, several new problems have occured.
Every once in a while, it won't start. It makes a clicking noise, and the
voltage goes down on my battery, but nothing happens. After about 40 trys
(or so it seems), the car will start up. I'm not sure if it's the battery
with a low charge, or the starter with a faulty relay.
Also, the coolant has been mixed in with the engine oil (which we think a bad
modulator valve may be causing), for when I check the oil, it's a chocolatey-
brown (and only a few weeks old too). We noticed a leak today, so I'm not
sure as to what exactly is going on.
And to top it all off, my transmission fluid IS leaking. I haven't seen any
stains, but I've dumped a few quarts into it in the past few weeks and it's
still bone dry. Again, this apparently may be caused from a bad modulator
valve, but I'm not car expert.
If anyone can help me with any of these problems, I would dearly appreciate
it. Thank you so much.

The check engine light (CEL) is on as well as the light on the cruise
control button. The cruise control button light flashes whether the
botton is pressed on not. This is the first time this has happened on
my 2004 Subaru Outback Sedan LTD with 60,400 miles. Any suggestion as
to what is wrong and a solution? Thanks.

I have a 2001 Outback Wagon limited and I need to replace the o2
sensors. I bought the rear one first and I subscribed to
alldatadiy.com which has printable diagrams.
I was wondering 2 things. First, has anyone done this and perhaps
taken pictures? the diagrams arent that great. And second, any
advice?
Thanks
NF
