For small club gigs, I generally run a Mackie 808S power mixer. I run the
main, FOH speakers out of one amp on the 808S, and the monitors out of the
other amp. I want to run some in-ear monitors from the Monitor Out of my
Mackie 808S into my Behringer Powerplay 8000 headphone amp. Otherwise, I'll
still control the mains with the left amp and the monitors with the right
amp - all in mono of course.
Does anyone have some knowledge concerning the possibility of causing any
damage to my Mackie 808S if I don't hook up any monitor speakers to it in
the process? I know at least in the old days you could do some damage to an
amp if you didn't run any speakers yet had the power turned up.

Last week I had cause to quickly get hold of a pair of wedges. With
limited budget and not much time, I purchased a pair from London
supplier Studiospares, model 212MB, 12" + horn. rated 600watts
Let me tell you, they are incredible value for money, good sturdy
cabinet - tho MDF not ply, (these have gone in an install so wont get
moved about very much) nice finish, proper handles, the facility for
either passive xover or bi-amp etc. But the amazing thing is the sound,
fantastic, smooth rich with no nasty feedback inducing peaks and loud as
hell.
So far everyone who`s used them has remarked on how good they are. and
all for less than £200 each including carriage.
The down side? well, they are very very heavy and the finish marks
easily, but other than that they are knockout for that kind of money and
I recommend them to anyone working on a real budget.
They do of course come from China, but what doesn't these days!
Ron
I have no connection with Studiospares other than as a customer.

Every time I check the unread messages on this group and see a high
count, shortly after I've read everything; I can be sure that it's
either Chinese spam, or George/Phildo/Arny in a pissing match...usually
the latter.
Sure enough, 16 posts in 40 minute
--not one of them informative or useful.

when they talk about "a 500watt pA?"
I'm guessing its not the total power of the cabs?
Is it the total power of the amps? the most powerful amp?
Many thanks in advance
