Galvanized pipe is just mild steel that has been galvanized, it can be
ground or wire-wheeled off, , be sure to get it back at least a fat inch
from anywhere a weld will be, , and be cautious, the fumes from burning
or grinding galvanization, which is zinc, isn't that good for you.

There are stainless steel welding rod/wire made for welding stainless to
mild steel, the number is 309. For a simple mount, you might be ableto
get away with 7018 (lo-hy) welding rod, , but it's not recommended,
especially for anything structural. .

I could be wrong though, I've been out of that field for a while now. . .
