I wish the authors of science textbooks could be induced to
leave off amateur attempts at philosophy and stick to what they
know. My high school biology text had some blather about how
parasites were superior to human beings. The fallacy inherent
in that-that we are the ones making the value judgments, not
the parasites-was obvious to me at the time, but unfortunately
the authors were not available in person to point that out to.
