Actor Woody Harelson's father

In Nigel Turner's TMWKK, one of the "three tramps" whose name is
Harelson is interviewed about what--if any- connection he had with
President Kennedy's death.

It wasn't until much later I heard that the former "Cheers" TV star,
and recent star of "No Country for Old Men," Woody Harelson's father
is in prison for murder.

Are the two Harelson's related?

Thanks for entertaining my wild imagination.

Same dude, but the three tramps were later identified as .... three
tramps.

Woody's fathe, Charles Harrelson, was in federal prison for murdering
a federal judge somewhere in Texas in the late 70s. He died in prison
a little over a year ago. He wasn't all that old, I don't remember
what he died of ... heart attack maybe.

Woody Harrelson's father Charles Harrelson is indeed in prison for murder.
But none of the three tramps was named Harrelson. Their arrest records
were found in the Dallas Police Dept. archives in 1992, and they were
Harold Doyle, John Forester Gedney, and Gus W. Abrams. Doyle and Gedney
were still alive, and Abrams' family identified him from photos. More

Charles Harrelson is Woody's father, but not involved in the JFK
case, except for a claim he made while high on cocaine to avoid
being shot by police.

Yes. You can tell by the tramp photo that it was Woody's dad (two L's).
He admitted to being involved in the murder, but 'recanted' obviously for
putting himself into being a target hit himself. There were six tramps
detained that day, and only three arrested. Read Coup D' Etat by Weberman
for the arrest and detainment details.

He did--to avoid being shot by police. He figured they would be more
interested in a live major villain than a dead minor one, though he did
assassinate a Federal judge.
