EatMyChat.com announces the publication and auction of an edible
edition of "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare. The play is printed
with edible ink on edible paper, bound with organic liquorice, and
carries a best-before date of September 2007.
We believe this is the first time an edible edition of a Shakespeare
play has been offered for sale. If it proves popular, we will create
more in the Edible Shakespeare series next year. Romeo and Juliet is
being considered, as is the complete collection of sonnets, which could
be consumed a few at a time in bite-size pieces. However, Twelfth Night
(which opens with the words 'If music be the food of love') seemed like
a good choice for the season, as it is the most festive of
Shakespeare's comedies and would make an excellent Christmas gift for
anyone who likes to devour a good book.
The play, which runs to 51 pages, is being auctioned on eBay from 1st
December until 11th December. There is only one copy available, which
is marked on the inside cover with the words "This particular copy of
Twelfth Night is the FIRST EDITION of any Edible Shakespeare
publication, ever".
