Without even taking time away from the other things I need/want to do so
as to read all these articles, my question is, How far is a society to
go, and to what extent is th evast majority to be penalized, because a
few poeple insist upon doing stupidand/or self-destructive things?

People ahve also committed suicide by overdosing on Acetominphen,. so
what, are we going to demand that everyone go to a MD for a prescripotion
every time they pull a muscle or each time their arthritis flares up and
aches? ANd wha tabout those who overdose on their prescriptions? Are we
to make ALL prescriptions for only 5 pills at a time?

It's not that I'm unsympathetic to those suffering from depression, fo
robvious reasons, it's just that "society", as an amophous entity, simply
cannot tkae the place of family, friends, medical professionals, and/or
an individual's desires/will. There is simply no way to protect all
people from themselves, all of the time, unless you straightjacket
everyone and lock them in a padded room.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I noticed a counselling-help sign in one of the pics, but it seems still
a bandage.

I get all sorts of people tell me to be careful when I rollerblade, or
cringe when I go by at a power-walker's clip past them, as though some
kind of collision with me is fatal.
Meanwhile, they blissfully climb into their
living-rooms-cum-caskets-cum-wrecking-balls-on-wheels with their kids
and drive at least 100 kms per hour.
We almost got hit by one that ran a red light last night waiting to turn
on a yellow.

I think you should let a rollerblader and then a car bump into you at
their average speeds, and compare and contrast. You may find that the
rollerblader doesn't hurt much, and can sometimes even feel rather
pleasant, as in, "Fancy bumping into you.".

I think people have a false sense of security with cars and in many
coded stuff like what has been mentioned here already.
