" .. the New York Times rejected an opinion piece submitted by McCain ..."
" .... it "would have to articulate, in concrete terms, how Sen. McCain
defines victory in Iraq.""
"It's possible that top Republicans are delighted to have a fresh reason to
flog a newspaper that is a tried-and-true target for conservatives."
On the side, McCain is now blaming Obama for high gasoline prices ....
" .. on McCain's own record. McCain, too, opposes drilling in the Alaska
refuge and during his 2000 presidential run opposed lifting the offshore
drilling moratorium as well."
Not that any of that really impacts such much in any case
(as we seem to have passed peak oil anyway and it's a world
market).
But conservation, alternate energy sources, etc. would help. Not the
repub agenda.

THE best thing to happen to John McCain was for the three network anchors to
leave him in the dust this week while they chase Barack Obama on his global
Lollapalooza tour. Were voters forced to actually focus on Mr. McCains response
to our spiraling economic crisis at home, the prospect of his ascension to the
Oval Office could set off a panic that would make the IndyMac Bank bust in
Pasadena look as merry as the Rose Bowl.

AOL is often not sending Email from it's Email
server(s), even though it claims it was sent it's not
getting out.
Anybody else having this new problem? Last several days
here .. resend enough times & some will actually get sent.
Might be just one of their Email servers? No way to tell.

Are you a lateral thinker?
This is an interesting dilemma. See what you would have done.
Many years ago in a small Indian village, a farmer had the
misfortune of owing a large sum of money to a female village
moneylender. The female Moneylender, who was old, fat and ugly,
fancied the farmer's handsome son, Cliff.
So she proposed a bargain. She said she would forego the farmer's
debt if she could marry his son. Both the farmer and his son were
horrified by the proposal.
So the cunning female moneylender suggested that they let
Providence decide the matter. She told them that she would put a black
pebble and a white pebble into an empty moneybag. Then the son would
have to pick one pebble from the bag. If he picked the black pebble,
he would become her husband and his father's debt would be forgiven.
If he picked the white pebble he need not marry her and his father's
debt would still be forgiven. But if he refused to pick a pebble, his
father would be thrown into jail.

You May be a Fundamentalist If...
10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other
religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved
from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we
were created from dirt.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to
Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered
all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic
groups in "Joshua" -- including women, children, and trees!
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods
sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit
impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to
life and then ascended into the sky.

Gramm said: Youve heard of mental depression - this is a mental recession.
... We have sort of become a nation of whiners."
You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of
competitiveness, America in decline... Weve never been more dominant, weve
never had more natural advantages than we have today. - Gramm (senior economic
adviser to McCain)
"The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should,"
- McCain
"I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy
issues. I still need to be educated. - McCain

"Upon closer inspection, it seems a good many of those economists don't
actually support the whole of McCain's economic agenda .."
"This economic downturn is not in your head. When people are losing their
homes and property values are declining it is not a figment of your
imagination. - Barack Obama
