cooking chilli

I personally believe that there's absolution nothing wrong with two red
blooded heterosexual men discussing cooking.

I normally have plenty of olive oil to hand when cooking, but decided to try
sunflower oil for chilli the other day, and it was much better.

What sort of oil do you use for a *proper* chilli? Nobody here seems to know.

A spelling lame?! Are you properly awake yet, dude?

It says here that it's from the Spanish "chile", wot comes from the Nahuatl
"chilli". So ner.

i personally have not delved into the making of homemade chili. right
now, my general specialties are both thai and indian curries. though
a picnic ham with green beans, taters, onions, and carrots thrown in a
pot with a bay leaf or two and then cooked for 6 hours is mighty fine,
too. as ive aged (gawds i so dont like how that sounds), ive tended
towards slower cooked stuff from the faster cooking of my mis-spent
youth.

and i really need to make a smoker...

You can soak many (plant-related) things in olive oil to make a
flavored oil.
For my pasta dishes I made a flavored oil using crushed cloves of
garlic and fresh bay leaves.

You could do the same for chilli.

(BTW: I don't use oil. The meat is usually greasy enough).

I'm surprised. I thought "I know someone who can put me right on this".

Tried Malaysian? It's a bit too fruity for my taste.
