do.....

The population of Greater London is around 8 million while of England it is
49 million.

So a small minority of the travelling public find LHR convenient. The main
decision makers are London based civil servants, airlines who want a
single hub to multiply options and BAA who obviously favour LHR. So we can
expect a London centric solution if it is left to the 'experts'.

Most long haul destinations are serviced from London with several flights so
it must be possible to have a second matching Hub to Heathrow well away from
London
and more convenient to the 41 million majority that would prefer to avoid
London. Birmingham comes to mind, with Edinburgh or Glasgow servicing the
North.

It has to be a political decision since road and rail links have to be
improved.
