After the first year of our new fence, the treated posts are looking
dry. Is their any kind of coating that will rejuvinate the look and
add to the preservation? Our farrier said that he uses some kind of
mixture of old motor oil and kerosene. Also, what about something to
better preserve the tops where we cut them off. Is their some kind of
coating that will seal and keep water from penetrating the tops?

Two Gallons of Paint (a short story)
It was very early morning, and the sun was not yet visible in the
brightening sky. On both sides of the old country road, frogs and crickets
made quite a bit of music, as the birds with sweeter songs tried to be heard
in the trees above.
A young boy walked with his father on the road to town. Each of them carried
a few sticks, small cuttings from willows that had been simply, but
attractively, fashioned into walking sticks. The boy did this in the
evenings, whenever he had the time. A skill he had learned from his
grandfather. Already, the boy showed a fine talent for carving.
Behind them waddled two white ducks accompanied by a small dog.
"Where are we going?" the dog asked the ducks. "I've never been this far
from home."
"Oh, we are going to the market," the older duck answered.
"What's a market?" the dog asked.
"It's a grand place, with lots of people from all around the countryside.
And lots of animals are there, too!" the younger duck replied. "I've heard
so much about it!"

Your idea would work. I use a 3/8 rod that I drill and insert like giant
pins to hold the brace.

What possible good come from this day?
Sometimes good happens despite all our best efforts. This is the fact of
history because God Himself intervenes and works things around for His own
purposes. The Scripture says that God works all things for the good of those
who are His, for those who love Him.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love
God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)
The fact is, God works things out for the good of all people. Granted, a lot
of evil is permitted in our world. In the very beginning, we opened the door
to such evil and to all kinds of darkness when our very first parents
decided to take the advice of the devil. God had given clear and simple
guidelines for their preservation and success. But they chose to hearken, to
stop and listen, to the voice of deception. And being deceived, they fell
from God's highest plan for humanity: sinless life and endless joy.
