Two points...
Insects might develop a resistance to the bt. But if they do, as some
kind of have, then they die fast because the bt depends on the insects
gut PH being pretty high (like 10 or so). That's why the bt doesn't
hurt us or mammals or fish, generally. Almost as soon as the insects
ingest the bt, it busts through the stomach and the insect dies.
If the insects develop a more acidic stomach, which WOULD kill the bt,
then the insect would survive and become "immune" to the bt. But then
they'd lose their ability to eat and digest the foods they depend on.
So they'd survive the bt, only to die of malnutrition (LOL)... That's
already been observed.
Also, if the insects develop an immunity to that cry1AB protein
promoter gene, then we have a LOT more genes from the Bacillus
thuringiensis to work with.
Or we could go back to pesticides which are less discriminant.

Chess legend Fischer dies at 64
The US-born player was a fierce critic of his government
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/check/player/nol/newsid_7190000/newsid_7196600...
The controversial former world chess champion, Bobby Fischer, has died
in Iceland at the age of 64.
The US-born player, who became famous for beating Cold War Soviet
rival Boris Spassky in 1972, died of an unspecified illness, his
spokesman said.
He was granted Icelandic citizenship in 2005 as a way to avoid being
deported to the US.
Mr Fischer was wanted for breaking international sanctions by playing
a match in the former Yugoslavia in 1992.
They [media] constantly use the words eccentric, eccentric,
eccentric, weird. I am boring. I am boring!
Bobby Fischer
He also had alienated many in his homeland by broadcasting anti-
Semitic diatribes and expressing support for the 11 September 2001
attacks in New York.

More on this, Google is your friend:
http://ncrcafe.org/node/1541
This extract definitely does not (or anyway, does not definitely) endorse
Feyerabend's stuff specifically. The Pope is, as his apologists argue,
giving a bunch of viewpoints about faith and science, and showing
different ideas among the non-believers.
It's also pretty much impenetrable bullshit. The impenetrability will be
familiar to anyone who has tried to decipher what he thought he was
talking about in those famous remarks about Islam.

To be perfectly fair to all, he was not yet infallible when he said this!
Just in charge of the Inquisition. Which is a nice combination, when you
think of it: Wouldn't it be better if the Inquisition were in the charge
of someone who IS infallible? [Addressing the matter, obviously, in the
Church's own terms.]
Better yet if he were to acknowledge that the Pope of that time came out
and said just the opposite; whether that was infallible or not, agreeing
to it would show a bit of solidarity, no? But he hasn't done that, so
cheers for the protesters.
